As I woke up this morning, my head still clearing from the cloudy stupor of former unconsciousness, my thoughts began to focus on the Lord and what He’s doing with this whole “Write the Word” thing. As the fog dissipated, these words, from the Word, clearly surfaced…

Psalm 127:1-2

“Unless the Lord builds the house,
They labor in vain who build it;
Unless the Lord guards the city,
The watchman stays awake in vain.
It is vain for you to rise up early,
To sit up late,
To eat the bread of sorrows;
For so He gives His beloved sleep.”

It made me think of all the years I’ve been blogging, trying to find my way through the thicket, looking for the clearing that would lead me to the path God has laid out for me and my writing. All of the late nights and tears, the cries of “What do you want me to do, God? What are you trying to tell me? What are you calling me to?”. As I kept thinking back, all those words, all those times of discouragement and frustration, of stretching and growing through pain, so much pain, it seems as though a bit of light started to glimmer.

The Lord is and has been answering my prayers and leading me through the forests and valleys and mountains to bring me to this place.

Right here, right now.

As I wrestled with Him on the battlefields of my flesh, my soul, my spirit and my mind, He was holding me, oh so, so tight, as a mother holds her child closely wrapped in her arms until all that pent up stuff subsides and peace resumes its primary place in the heart of her child…

He loves me.

And He held me until I let Him love me back.

As I sit quiet, still and calm, I can still hear His soft and gentle voice breathing in my ears…”Shhhhhh…it’s ok, it all going to be ok…shhhhh…I only want to love you my sweet girl. Let me love you…please stop fighting? You can trust in my perfect love that isn’t like any other you have ever known. My love is FOR YOU and YOUR GOOD. Let me love you…I’m not those other people, I’m not even close. My motives are not to harm or use you, they are to cherish you and to make you whole. Shhhh…rest in my love sweet one. I love you. I love you so much! Shhhh…rest…rest…rest.”

The Lord wants to do a work in you, in your life, but you’re striving. You’re trying to build your own house, you’re laboring in vain. Put down the tools and sit on the chair in your living room. Find a spot on the couch and close your eyes. As the presence of the Lord washes over you, don’t run, don’t hide, don’t fight. Let go of all those weights, let go of all those things and plans that you are trying to carry with strength you really don’t have.

Let Jesus love you.

Let Jesus hold you.

Let Jesus restore you.

Let Jesus build your house.

After all, isn’t He the master carpenter? Isn’t He the Savior of the world? Isn’t it His shed blood that washes our sins away and makes us right with God, clean and reconciled? Isn’t it He Who bids us “Come, all ye who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest…”?

Let he who has ears to hear, hear what the Spirit of the Lord is saying.

“For we do not preach ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your bondservants for Jesus’ sake. For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us.We are hard-pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed— always carrying about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body. For we who live are always delivered to death for Jesus’ sake, that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.So then death is working in us, but life in you.

13 And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak, 14 knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus will also raise us up with Jesus, and will present us with you. 15 For all things are for your sakes, that grace, having spread through the many, may cause thanksgiving to abound to the glory of God. 16 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.” ~2 Corinthians 4:5-18

So what’s become of all this? I am so thrilled, to my very toes, to let you know I have been asked by OneVerse, a partner of The Seed Company to be a OneVerse Blogger! I can not put into words how high my heart soared when it registered in my brain. I would probably liken it to that scene in “The Sound of Music” when Rolf kisses Liesl and she’s so overcome with emotion, she squeals. Yeah, that’s pretty close. This goes along perfectly with the community I’m developing of believers who are joining me as I “Write the Word”. This crazy little idea of mine is starting to come to life, by the grace and blessing of the Lord. I never dreamed it would grow like this and head in this direction, but I am so grateful to the Lord for taking my one little grain of obedience and multiplying it for His glory. If you’d like to join our community, we are using the hashtags #writetheWord & #endBiblepoverty on both Twitter and Instagram. In addition to that, I am praying about a link-up right here on my blog, every Wednesday for you to share your journey with the Write the Word community. It’s a big commitment that I don’t take lightly, so before I jump into it, would you join me in praying for it? Please let me know if that’s something you’d be interested in as well. Thanks!
